ST. JOSEPH SERVICES AND BIG SHOULDERS FUND
PARTNER TO CLOSE THE TECHNOLOGY GAP FOR
STUDENTS IN NEED ON CHICAGO’S WEST SIDE

St. Joseph Services and Big Shoulders Fund are collaborating with the shared mission of supporting youth affected by poverty on Chicago’s West Side. This collaboration has the goal of increasing school retention and future job acquirement by providing youth with the tools and equipment necessary to further their education. Through this partnership, 185 Chromebooks and 40 tablets are being donated in December 2020 to St. Catherine - St. Lucy, St. Angela, and Maternity BVM students who do not currently have access
to devices. This will allow every student at each school to have a
device and be able to fully participate in remote learning.
A $100,000 seed donation helped jump start this program, and
St. Joseph Services and Big Shoulders Fund are currently seeking
additional sources of funding from corporate sponsors, community
partners, and individual donors to support the ‘Bridging the Youth
Technology Gap Program’ with the goal of doubling the initial
investment in Big Shoulders Fund schools and reaching additional
communities.
