Computer Skills

St. Joseph Services welcomes learners of all levels to participate. Adult literacy classes are designed to meet the needs of the individual student. Adults learn in a respectful, non-judgmental atmosphere with instructors who guide the curriculum to ensure the successful achievement of each student’s goals. Classes are offered daily at both the Austin and Humboldt Park program sites. Trained, dedicated tutors facilitate learning in a small group setting with hands-on computer access.

Computer Skills at the SJS Community Center

Beginning students learn the basics of manipulating the mouse and keyboard, accessing the internet, setting up an email and creating and saving files. More advanced instruction begins with Microsoft Office beginning Word and Excel and progresses through Intermediate and Advanced Word and Intermediate Excel. Students learn practical skills applications like completing a resume, doing internet job searches, and filling out on-line applications.
